Responsibilities
- Install new HVAC systems including air conditioning units, boilers, refrigeration equipment, and ventilation systems according to schematics and HVAC design plans
- Perform system diagnostics using electrical diagnostics tools such as ohmmeters and troubleshoot mechanical issues with refrigeration, ammonia refrigeration, or building automation systems
- Conduct routine maintenance and mechanical systems repair to ensure optimal operation of HVAC equipment
- Interpret technical schematics, wiring diagrams, and building automation controls to facilitate accurate installation and repairs
- Repair or replace mechanical components such as welders or pumps; perform plumbing and electrical diagnostics as needed
- Ensure compliance with EPA regulations related to refrigerants and other environmental standards during installation and servicing
- Maintain detailed service records, safety documentation, and reports for each project or service call
Requirements
- Proven experience with a strong understanding of mechanical systems installation and repair
- Service technician experience in HVAC/R
- Knowledge of schematics, HVAC design principles, electrical diagnostics, plumbing, welding, and mechanical systems repair
- Familiarity with building automation systems (BAS) and HVAC control technology
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record; ability to operate various field service vehicles safely
- Certifications such as EPA refrigerant handling certification; experience with ammonia refrigeration is a plus
- Mechanical knowledge encompassing boilers, pumps, valves, and other HVAC components
- Ability to use diagnostic tools including ohmmeters; experience with equipment repair is essential
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to diagnose issues quickly and accurately in complex mechanical environments
- Excellent communication skills for collaborating with team members and explaining technical information to clients
- Ability to work on your own or as part of a team
