Company Overview
Silver Mist Landscape is a growing, multi-discipline business operating across landscaping, construction, manufacturing, and rental property operations. We take pride in building high-quality projects, maintaining organized operations, and running a business that values accountability, craftsmanship, and continuous improvement. We have been serving the community since 2002, committed to delivering top-quality outdoor solutions and fostering a vibrant team environment.
Overview
We are a hands-on company. Things move fast. No two days are the same. We value people who take ownership, solve problems, and keep the operation running smoothly behind the scenes. You will work directly with the owner.
If you like being the person who brings structure to chaos and makes everyone else more effective — you’ll feel right at home here.
We are looking for a highly organized, financially-minded professional who wants to take ownership of both office operations and core accounting functions inside a fast-moving, multi-entity business.
This is not a basic admin role.
You will be the person who keeps the business financially organized, operationally aligned, and running smoothly day-to-day.
Responsibilities
You’ll operate as the central hub of the business — managing:
Financial & Accounting
- Daily cash monitoring and account management
- Accounts payable and receivable
- Bank reconciliations (monthly)
- Weekly financial reporting to ownership
- Sales tax, payroll reports, and compliance filings
- Year-end prep (W2s, 1099s, CPA coordination)
- Manage all aspects of corporate accounting, including general ledger reconciliation, journal entries, accounts payable and receivable, and financial statement preparation.
- Utilize accounting software such as QuickBooks, Xero, Sage, PeopleSoft, or similar platforms for accurate bookkeeping and financial management.
- Conduct detailed financial analysis, cash flow forecasting, budget monitoring, and financial report writing to support strategic decision-making.
- Reconcile bank statements, prepare balance sheets, perform account analysis, and ensure accuracy in all financial data.
- Supervise payroll processing, tax filings, and regulatory reporting requirements while maintaining confidentiality of sensitive information.
Operations
- Coordinate office operations including vendor management, procurement, scheduling, and maintaining a productive work environment across multiple business lines
- Manage communication between teams, vendors, and clients
- Maintain organized systems and documentation
- Support payroll, invoicing, and project coordination
What This Role Is Not
- If you need constant direction or prefer to be told exactly what to do each day, this is not the role for you
- If you are uncomfortable managing financial responsibilities like reconciliations, reporting, and deadlines, this is not the role for you
- If you struggle with interruptions and shifting priorities, this role will be frustrating
- If you prefer to stay in a narrow job scope instead of taking ownership, this is not a fit
- If attention to detail is not one of your strengths, this role will not be a match
Experience
- 3+ years in accounting, bookkeeping, or office management
- Strong QuickBooks experience (required)
- Strong Excel experience (required)
- Ability to manage multiple priorities independently
- High attention to detail and strong follow-through
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, hands-on environment
- Knowledge of SOX compliance procedures and LIHTC (Low-Income Housing Tax Credit) regulations is highly desirable.
- Background in governmental or public accounting with familiarity in regulatory reporting and audit processes preferred.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data accurately.
- Experience mentoring or training team members on technical accounting topics such as double entry bookkeeping, debits & credits, journal entries, and financial statement interpretation.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities efficiently in a fast-moving environment. Join us at Silver Mist where your expertise will help shape our financial health while supporting our vibrant team culture!
