Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and knowledgeable Medical Billing Clerk to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for performing daily data entry, billing, and collection activity. The ideal canidadate will communicate with patient’s regarding billing issues.
Duties
- Execute appropriate collection activities in accordance with practice guidelines.
- Monitor all computer functions related to billing and payment procedures.
- Process and enter payment information on computer daily.
- Ensure all bills pursuant to billing cycle are mailed in accordance with practice guidelines.
- Generate and review accounts payable/accounts receivable reports to ensure accuracy.
- Monitor all third party billings, communicate with insurance companies and attorneys to expedite the collection process and ensure all pre-authorization requirements are met.
- Negotiate with delinquent patient accounts to minimize collection activity potential.
- Receive and resolve patient account problems and discrepancies.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
- Follow up on unpaid claims and resolve discrepancies with insurance providers.
Requirements
- Proven experience in medical billing and coding, preferably in a medical office setting.
- Strong understanding of medical terminology and coding guidelines.
- Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems and billing software.
- Knowledge of DRG systems is a plus.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively with healthcare professionals, insurance companies, and patients.
- Certification in medical billing or coding (e.g., CPC, CCA) is preferred but not required.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $18.00 per hour
