Duties
- Prepare ingredients and cook menu items according to standardized recipes and quality specifications
- Operate kitchen equipment safely and efficiently, including ovens, grills, fryers, and food processors
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of workstations, adhering to strict food safety standards in production and handling
- Assist with menu planning by preparing ingredients in advance and suggesting improvements for dishes
- Ensure proper food handling practices are followed to prevent contamination and ensure food safety compliance
- Collaborate closely with kitchen staff to coordinate meal preparation and timely service
- Support catering events by preparing large quantities of food while maintaining consistency and presentation standards
Qualifications
- Previous experience in a restaurant or food service environment, with a focus on food preparation and cooking
- Knowledge of dietary department procedures or dietary aide experience is a plus
- Strong knife skills with proficiency in slicing techniques and ingredient portioning
- Familiarity with food safety management practices and safety standards in production environments
- Ability to follow recipes accurately while maintaining flexibility for special requests or modifications
- Excellent communication skills to coordinate effectively with kitchen team members
- Experience operating kitchen equipment safely and efficiently in a fast-paced setting
