About Us
Sphere Surgery Center is a physician-owned ASC in active startup phase in Irving, TX. We have 2 procedure rooms and 2 ORs, with expansion to 4 ORs planned. We're looking for a proven nursing leader who has done this before — someone ready to build systems, teams, and culture from the ground up.
The Role
The DON is our senior clinical leader, with full accountability for nursing and clinical operations. This is a hands-on, ground-floor role reporting directly to the Vice President of Operations and physicians. You'll move between strategic planning and day-to-day operational execution.
What You'll Do
- Design and implement clinical policies, procedures, and standards aligned with AAAHC, CMS, and TAC requirements
- Oversee OR, procedure rooms, pre-op, and PACU operations
- Lead QAPI, quality metrics, and regulatory compliance (AAAHC, 42 CFR §416, Texas DSHS)
- Operationalize the ASC — staffing models, credentialing workflows, EHR setup, supply protocols
- Recruit, hire, and build a high-performing clinical team (RNs, CSTs, and SPD, etc)
- Build scheduling frameworks scalable from 2 to 4 ORs
- Partner with physician owners on budgeting, resource utilization, and service line growth
Required Qualifications
- BSN required; MSN preferred
- Active, unrestricted Texas RN license (or compact)
- 5+ years OR/surgical clinical experience; 3+ years in nursing leadership
- ASC startup or de novo launch experience — firm requirement; please address in cover letter
- Working knowledge of AAAHC standards, 42 CFR §416, and Texas ASC licensure rules
Preferred
- Pain management, orthopedics, or multi-specialty ASC background
- CRNA-only anesthesia model familiarity
- HST Pathways, eClinicalWorks, ModernMed, or similar ASC EHR experience
