Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Lead Welder (MIG/TIG) / Fitter to join our dynamic fabrication and construction team. This pivotal role involves leading welding and fitting operations on various projects, ensuring precision, safety, and quality in every task. Responsibilities
- Lead welding operations utilizing MIG (Metal Inert Gas) and TIG (Tungsten Inert Gas) techniques to produce high-quality welds in accordance with project specifications and industry standards.
- Read and interpret detailed blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings to guide fabrication and assembly processes.
- Supervise and assist team members in the setup, operation, and maintenance of power tools, hand tools, plasma cutters, press brake machines, and other fabrication equipment.
- Perform fitting tasks such as measuring with calipers and micrometers, aligning components, rigging, and pipe threading to ensure precise assembly of structures or equipment.
- Conduct quality inspections using calipers, micrometers, and schematics to verify dimensions, weld integrity, and adherence to ASME codes & standards.
- Coordinate with project managers to plan daily tasks on construction sites or manufacturing floors while ensuring compliance with safety protocols including crane operation and forklift handling.
- Maintain detailed documentation of welding procedures, inspection reports, and project logs; ensure all work aligns with safety regulations and company policies.
Requirements
- Proven experience in construction site environments with strong MIG welding (FCAW included), TIG welding (<LOCATION> specific), and sheet metal fabrication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to read blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings accurately.
- Mechanical knowledge of rigging, pipe threading, plasma cutting, press brake operation, machining, soldering, and assembly processes.
- Familiarity with construction tools such as calipers, micrometers, hand tools, power tools, and schematics for precise measurements and fabrication tasks.
- Ability to operate cranes, forklifts, scaffolding equipment safely; basic math skills for measurements and calculations are essential.
- Knowledge of ASME codes & standards relevant to welding and fabrication projects; experience working on ductwork or manufacturing projects is a plus.
- Strong teamwork skills combined with leadership qualities to guide junior welders or fitters effectively.

Pay: $28.00 - $34.00 per hour
