Position Summary:
The Seasoning Training Technician is responsible for training production operators on the safe, efficient, and consistent operation of seasoning equipment. This role serves as a technical resource within Production, supporting seasoning application, product quality, troubleshooting, sanitation, equipment readiness, and continuous improvement. The Seasoning Training Technician develops and maintains training materials, conducts hands-on and classroom training, evaluates operator performance, and ensures seasoning operations meet safety, food safety, quality, sanitation, and productivity standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Seasoning Operations & Process Ownership:
Operate and monitor seasoning equipment in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
Prepare equipment, seasonings, and materials to support scheduled production.
Verify seasoning applications, feeder settings, and equipment adjustments to achieve product specifications.
Support seasoning changeovers, sanitation, startup, and shutdown activities.
Troubleshoot seasoning applications and process issues to minimize downtime and product waste.
Ensure compliance with OSHA, FDA, HACCP, GMP, SQF, and company food safety requirements.
Training, Certification & Mentorship:
Train new and existing operators on seasoning equipment operation, sanitation, troubleshooting, and standard work.
Develop and maintain training materials, including SOPs, One-Point Lessons, job breakdown sheets, and work instructions.
Certify and recertify seasoning operators to ensure consistent competency across all shifts.
Provide coaching and mentoring to improve operator performance, safety, quality, and efficiency.
Promote standardized work practices and continuous learning across production teams.
Equipment, Reliability &Technical Support:
Partner with Production, Maintenance, Quality, Warehouse, and Sanitation teams to resolve operational issues affecting seasoning performance and product quality.
Conduct routine equipment, sanitation, and process audits to identify opportunities for improved efficiency, reduced downtime, and waste reduction.
Support implementation of corrective and preventive actions to improve equipment reliability and process consistency.
Serve as a technical resource for seasoning operations and assist with problem-solving during production.
Continuous Improvement & Documentation:
Maintain accurate training records, operator qualifications, equipment documentation, and required production records.
Monitor and support key performance indicators (KPIs) related to training effectiveness, seasoning accuracy, downtime, waste reduction, sanitation readiness, and line performance.
Recommend and support continuous improvement initiatives that improve efficiency, product consistency, food safety, and operational performance.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent.
Experience operating seasoning, processing, packaging, or other food manufacturing equipment.
Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to troubleshoot production equipment and processes.
Ability to train, coach, and effectively communicate with employees at all levels.
Working knowledge of GMPs, SOPs, HACCP, SQF, allergen control, food safety, and workplace safety requirements.
Ability to read production schedules, follow product specifications, and maintain accurate documentation.
Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office.
Ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment while managing multiple priorities.
Ability to stand, walk, bend, climb stairs and ladders, and lift up to 50 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation.
Three (3) or more years of experience in seasoning, food manufacturing, or a related manufacturing environment (preferred).
Previous experience of training, mentoring, or certifying production employees (preferred).
Familiarity with mechanical, pneumatic, conveyor, feeder, and basic electrical systems (preferred).
Experience supporting continuous improvement initiatives, process optimization, or equipment standardization (preferred).
