Lead Carpenter
Location: San Francisco Bay Area
Pay & Type: $40.00 – $50.00 / hour | Full-Time (40 hrs/wk)
1. Leadership & Site Management
- Crew & Site Supervision: Lead a field crew of 1–5 carpenters, manage daily progress, and run job sites with high accountability.
- Proactive Coordination: Act as the primary site link to Project Managers, architects, engineers, clients, and subcontractors.
- Forward Planning: Oversee 3-week lookahead schedules, budget labor hours, coordinate trade subs, and schedule city inspections.
- Mentorship & Culture: Teach MN quality standards, conduct weekly safety tailgates, and foster a team-first, ownership mindset (ESOP).
2. Master Craftsmanship & Technical Expertise
- Advanced Carpentry: High-level mastery across concrete forming (foundations), complex roof framing, stair building, and custom interior/exterior woodwork.
- Plans & Detail Execution: Highly proficient with Fieldwire and Procore; expert in redlining, reading shop drawings (cabinetry, ironwork, windows), and drafting detailed execution plans.
- Quality Control: Enforce strict QA/QC standards through job site walkthroughs, precise measurements, and material verification.
3. Hard Work, Safety & Dedication
- Work Ethic: Punctual, self-motivated, and committed to finishing every job to the highest standards.
- Safety First: Drive full job site safety compliance, PPE usage, and safe operation of all specialized tools, scaffolding, and ladders.
- Hands-On Physicality: Active, hands-on role requiring long periods of standing, bending, lifting up to 50+ lbs.
Key Requirements
- 5+ years of crew management experience.
- Must possess a truck with a lumber rack and a full, work-ready toolkit.
- Strong communication skills and active problem-solving abilities.
Physical Demands & Work Environment
This role requires the ability to perform physically demanding construction work in active jobsite environments, with reasonable accommodations available as required by law. Employees must be able to stand, kneel, walk, bend, stoop, reach, and use hands and arms for prolonged periods throughout an 8-hour workday. Regular use of hand tools, power tools, ladders, and scaffolding is required, as well as the ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds. The position also requires clear communication, strong situational awareness, and vision sufficient for close, distance, and depth perception tasks. Work is performed on active construction sites with uneven terrain and mandatory use of personal protective equipment. The environment is often loud and involves working closely with others, exposure to physical hazards, heavy equipment, and construction materials. Employees may experience varying weather conditions, dust, fumes, and other jobsite elements, including exposure to materials and chemicals regulated by the State of California.
