The Menasha Joint School District has an opening for a full-time Special Education Paraprofessional. The Special Education Paraprofessional position was established to support the instructional program within the assigned school, with specific responsibilities for assisting in the supervision and instruction of special needs students; observing and documenting student progress; implementing instructional plans; and assisting students by addressing special health care needs.
The Program Support Paraprofessional will hold certification by the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction as a Special Education Program Aide. Under current federal legislation, all paraprofessionals who provide instruction to students must be "highly qualified" at the time of hire. Program Support Paraprofessionals are assigned to specific special-needs children to assist them in their educational program. Program Support Paraprofessionals may assist other children in the program to which their designated child is assigned, but their first priority is the special-needs child/children to whom they are assigned. Program Support Paraprofessionals are often required to assist children with self-care and medical procedures. They are also often required to closely monitor assigned students' behavior.
The workday is 7 hours per day, and the hours depend on the school level. The position is benefit-eligible. Screening and interviewing will begin immediately, and the position will remain open until filled by qualified applicants.
