Love animals and take pride in working hard? Join a team where the work you do each day helps pets stay safe, healthy, comfortable, and happy while giving their families confidence and peace of mind.
At Dog Town & Kitty City, our Pet Care Attendants do much more than supervise play. They learn to read pet behavior, follow detailed care instructions, maintain clean and sanitary spaces, document important information, and work together to provide dependable care 365 days a year.
A realistic look at the role
Working with pets is rewarding, but this is not a job where the day is spent simply playing with dogs. Excellent pet care depends on cleaning, sanitizing, accurate recordkeeping, careful observation, teamwork, and following safety procedures every time. The work is active, physical, sometimes messy, and essential to the well-being of every pet in our care.
What You’ll Do
· Complete all required training and consistently follow safety protocols, care standards, and facility procedures.
· Provide daily care for dogs and cats, including meals, water, exercise, enrichment, and personalized attention.
· Observe and document each pet’s behavior, appetite, elimination, comfort, and overall wellbeing, and promptly communicate concerns.
· Safely handle pets of different sizes, breeds, temperaments, and activity levels using the methods provided in training.
· Lead or assist with group play and provide one-on-one play and enrichment based on each pet’s needs.
· Clean and disinfect pet accommodations, play areas, food and water bowls, floors, walls, windows, bathrooms, and shared spaces.
· Complete laundry, waste removal, restocking, and basic indoor or outdoor upkeep as assigned.
· Maintain clear, accurate care records and communicate effectively with teammates.
· Adapt to changing responsibilities and help wherever needed to keep pets safe and the facility running smoothly.
Cross-Training in Customer Care
Qualified team members will also be trained to support the front desk. This allows us to serve pet parents consistently and gives employees a broader understanding of the complete pet and client experience.
Welcome pet parents and assist with pet arrivals and departures.
Answer phones and provide friendly, accurate information about our services and policies.
Schedule appointments and reservations, update client and pet information, and prepare for the
following day.
Communicate care information clearly and professionally with pet parents and teammates.
Who Will Thrive Here
You genuinely care about animals and understand that great care includes the less glamorous work.
You are dependable, accountable, detail-oriented, and ready to contribute throughout your shift.
You can follow established procedures, accept coaching, and apply what you learn.
You communicate clearly in person and in writing and work responsibly both independently and
with a team.
You remain calm and attentive in a busy environment with barking, movement, cleaning products,
pet hair, and occasional messes.
You are comfortable working on your feet, bending, lifting up to 50 pounds, and working indoors
and outdoors in changing weather.
You can work a flexible schedule. Because pets need care every day, weekend and holiday
availability is required.
Previous pet care or customer service experience is helpful, but not required. Reliability, sound
judgment, a strong work ethic, and a willingness to learn matter most.
