Job Summary
We are seeking a motivated and experienced Flatbed Driver to join our dynamic transportation team. In this role, you will be responsible for safely operating flatbed trucks to transport freight across various routes, ensuring timely and secure deliveries. Responsibilities
- Safely operate flatbed trucks, including tractor-trailers with manual transmissions, on over-the-road (OTR) routes and local deliveries.
- Load and unload freight using manual handling techniques, ensuring proper securing of cargo such as freight, hazardous materials, or specialized equipment like tankers or refrigerated trailers.
- Navigate efficiently using GPS navigation systems to follow designated routes and optimize delivery schedules.
- Transport various types of cargo including freight, automobile transportation, hazardous goods, or dangerous goods while complying with all hazardous materials regulations.
- Secure loads properly to prevent shifting or damage during transit and perform routine inspections of the truck’s safety features.
- Comply with all FMCSA, DOT, hazardous materials regulations, and safety protocols during every phase of transportation.
- Maintain accurate logs of driving hours, delivery records, and inspection reports in accordance with regulatory requirements.
- Communicate effectively with dispatchers and customers regarding delivery times, route changes, or any issues encountered on the road.
Experience
- Proven experience as a commercial truck driver with a focus on flatbed or tractor-trailer operations.
- Demonstrated knowledge of route driving across diverse terrains and OTR driving routes.
- Familiarity with truck loading and unloading procedures, including logistics cargo handling for freight or automobile transportation.
- Valid commercial driver’s license (CDL) with endorsements relevant to flatbed trucking; Hazmat endorsement preferred but not required.
- Experience operating trucks with manual transmission and managing dangerous goods or hazardous materials in compliance with safety standards.
- Strong understanding of FMCSA regulations, DOT regulations, hazardous materials regulations, and safety compliance practices.
- Ability to handle manual tasks associated with load securing and truck maintenance checks confidently.
