Responsibilities
- Install, splice, and test fiber optic cables in outdoor environments following industry standards and schematics.
- Operate heavy equipment such as bucket trucks and other construction machinery safely during installation and maintenance tasks.
- Use diagnostic tools and telecommunications testing equipment to identify issues within fiber optic networks and resolve technical problems efficiently.
- Interpret technical drawings, schematics, and network diagrams to accurately execute cable routing and splicing procedures.
- Perform telecommunications outside plant operations, including cable pulling, trenching, and aerial work on utility poles or structures.
- Conduct troubleshooting support for fiber optic network issues using engineering troubleshooting techniques and technical proficiency.
- Adhere strictly to safety protocols outlined by the National Electrical Safety Code (NESC) during all outdoor work activities.
- Maintain detailed records of splicing activities, test results, and network configurations for documentation and future reference.
- Collaborate with team members on network infrastructure projects involving LAN (Local Area Network), WAN (Wide Area Network), Ethernet, telephony systems, and low voltage electrical work.
Skills
- Proven experience in field service operations within telecommunications or related industries.
- Strong knowledge of fiber optic systems installation, splicing, testing, and troubleshooting techniques.
- Proficiency in operating heavy equipment such as bucket trucks, power tools, hand tools, and construction machinery safely.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings, schematics, and engineering plans accurately.
- Familiarity with telecommunication testing equipment and diagnostic tools used in fiber splicing and network troubleshooting.
- Experience working outdoors in various weather conditions with outdoor work experience preferred.
- Knowledge of electrical safety standards including the National Electrical Safety Code (NESC).
- Skilled in climbing utility poles or structures safely while maintaining balance with proper climbing techniques.
- Understanding of computer networking concepts including LAN, WAN, Ethernet cabling, telephony systems, and low voltage wiring.
- Construction experience related to telecommunications cable installation or outside plant operations is highly desirable.
- Ability to perform technical troubleshooting support for complex fiber optic networks or IT infrastructure issues.

Pay: $33.00 - $38.00 per hour
