Everett Elementary School is seeking Intervention Specialist candidates who are able to support systematic instruction in a positive environment.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF POSITION:
The Intervention Specialist provides assistance to the staff in addressing and maintaining appropriate
student behavior. The person may also assist in other areas of instruction, recreation, classroom
organization and general supervision of students. All activities are performed under the direction and
supervision of the building administrator.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/SKILLS:
A. Regular, dependable, in person attendance is an essential function of this position.
B. Knowledge and proper execution of district policies and procedures. Knowledge of programs,
departments or locations served.
C. Communication/Language Skills: Possess and demonstrate effective oral, written and listening skills.
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret various documents.
D. Reasoning Skills: Apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in various
forms. Make decisions in a timely manner, utilizing input from others as appropriate.
E. Human Relations Skills: Establish and maintain effective, professional working relationships with
employees, students and community while maintaining the appropriate level of confidentiality.

F. Computer Skills: Knowledge of computer systems including but not limited to time and attendance
system, information systems (student and/or financial as appropriate) and the policies/regulations
associated with such usage. Ability to use the following programs: MS Word and Excel.
G. Other Skills and Abilities:

D. Model appropriate conduct using positive verbal reinforcements and directions with students
E. Assist staff with crises and behavior management, when needed
F. Supervise students on campus, including in the hallways, lunchroom, playground and classrooms,
as well as on the bus and at class outings, when needed
G. Use behavior modification with students, up to and when necessary including physical restraints
H. Resolve conflict, using a variety of research-based methods and conflict-resolution skills to resolve
student problems
I. Make decisions in a timely manner, utilizing input from others as appropriate
J. Work with and meet the individual needs of students as directed by teachers or other professional staff
K. Work as a team member
L. Follow directions
M. Assist in observing, recording and charting behavioral data
N. Complete clerical tasks
O. Lead by example by being punctual, respectful and assertive, and by guiding staff and students to take
pride in their classrooms, school and community
P. Stay current on MANDT Certification
Q. Attend required in-service meetings to develop skills necessary for competent performance of the
duties
R. Assist with maintaining a safe environment in conjunction with the District’s goal of a safe learning
and working environment
S. Supervisor retains the ability to reassign on a daily basis, if necessary, to serve the needs of students
T. Other duties as assigned
