Electrical Engineer – Building Systems

WBRC Inc. is seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to join our collaborative, multidisciplinary team. In this hybrid role, based in our Portland, ME office. You’ll enjoy a collaborative, team-first environment with the flexibility to work from home as needed—and the chance to lead complex and rewarding projects across the Northeast and Florida.
Responsibilities:
- Lead production and design of building electrical systems including lighting, power distribution, and low-voltage systems
- Manage electrical projects from concept through construction
- Review submittals, write specifications, and perform construction administration and site visits
- Collaborate with architects and engineers in multi-disciplinary project teams
- Provide technical oversight and mentoring to junior engineers
- Ensure designs follow NEC, local codes, and industry standards
Qualifications:
- PE license required (multi-state licensure a plus)
- 6-10 years of experience in electrical building systems design
- Proficiency in Revit and AutoCAD
- Excellent communication and project leadership skills
- Knowledge of MEP coordination, site inspections, and code compliance
- Must be able to work in-office/hybrid in Portland, ME and travel periodically to job sites and client meetings
- Experience in construction administration and client-facing roles is essential
- A passionate problem-solver who takes pride in high-quality work
- Previous experience with K-12, higher education, healthcare, civic, and commercial facility design
