Duties
- Greet patients warmly, schedule appointments, and manage patient check-in/check-out processes using EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems such as Epic, Meditech, or eClinicalWorks
- Assist dental practitioners during procedures by preparing instruments, taking x-rays, and ensuring patient comfort
- Maintain accurate documentation review of patient records, treatment plans, and care notes in compliance with HIPAA regulations
- Handle medical billing and collections efficiently through knowledge of medical coding (CPT, ICD-9/10), health insurance procedures including Medicare, and electronic health records management
- Manage front desk operations including answering phones with professional phone etiquette, scheduling appointments, and coordinating patient flow using dental clinic experience
- Support medical administrative tasks such as filing, data entry (including 10 key typing), and maintaining organized medical records
- Ensure compliance with clinical confidentiality policies while providing excellent customer service to patients and visitors
Requirements
- Proven experience in a dental clinic or medical office environment with strong knowledge of EMR/EHR systems like Athenahealth or Meditech
- Familiarity with medical coding (CPT, ICD-9/10), billing processes, and health insurance procedures including Medicare
- Excellent computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and electronic health records management software
- Strong understanding of HIPAA regulations and clinical confidentiality policies
- Bilingual abilities are highly valued to serve diverse patient populations effectively
- Exceptional patient service skills combined with clerical experience in a busy office setting
- Ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently while maintaining attention to detail in documentation review and medical records management
- Previous experience working in a dental clinic or healthcare setting is preferred but not required; training will be provided for the right candidate
