Tampa Bay Fisheries is seeking a skilled Material Handling Equipment (MHE) Technician to maintain, troubleshoot, repair, and perform preventive maintenance on our leased fleet of material handling equipment. This position is responsible for ensuring maximum equipment reliability while minimizing downtime in a fast-paced food manufacturing and cold storage environment.
The MHE Technician will work independently to perform routine maintenance and repairs while coordinating with Raymond Handling Consultants for warranty work, major repairs, and technical support when necessary.
Essential Job Duties
- Perform scheduled preventive maintenance on forklifts, reach trucks, pallet jacks, order pickers, and other material handling equipment.
- Diagnose and repair mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, steering, braking, drive, and lift system failures.
- Troubleshoot electric forklift systems, motors, controllers, wiring, and battery-powered equipment.
- Maintain industrial batteries, charging stations, and battery changing equipment.
- Conduct safety inspections and identify equipment requiring repair before returning it to service.
- Respond quickly to equipment breakdowns to minimize production interruptions.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records, inspections, and repair documentation.
- Coordinate with Raymond Handling Consultants regarding warranty repairs, major component replacements, scheduled service, and leased equipment requirements.
- Maintain an organized inventory of repair parts, tools, and maintenance supplies.
- Follow all OSHA regulations, food safety requirements, and company safety policies.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe maintenance shop.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED.
- Three (3) years of experience maintaining and repairing forklifts or other material handling equipment.
- Strong knowledge of electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical systems.
- Ability to diagnose equipment failures and perform repairs independently.
- Ability to read service manuals, wiring diagrams, and technical documentation.
- Valid driver's license.
Preferred Qualifications Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Physical Requirements What We Offer One additional suggestion: if the person will be working exclusively on Raymond-leased equipment, I'd remove "Experience servicing Raymond equipment" from the preferred qualifications. Requiring Raymond experience unnecessarily narrows your applicant pool. Someone with experience on Crown, Toyota, Yale, Hyster, Jungheinrich, or Mitsubishi equipment can usually transition quickly to Raymond equipment.
- Experience servicing Raymond equipment.
- Technical training in industrial maintenance, diesel, automotive, or a related field.
- Experience with industrial battery maintenance and charging systems.
- Welding and light fabrication experience.
- OSHA safety or powered industrial truck certifications.
- Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills.
- Excellent mechanical aptitude.
- Ability to prioritize multiple repair requests in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Attention to detail with a commitment to safety and equipment reliability.
- Basic computer skills for work orders and maintenance records.
- Frequently stand, bend, kneel, climb, and work around industrial equipment.
- Lift up to 50 pounds regularly.
- Work in warehouse, refrigerated, freezer, and outdoor environments as needed.
- Safely operate powered industrial equipment for testing and repair purposes.
