The Dietary Aide works under the supervision of the Dietary Director and performs the following tasks: serves prepared food, clean up of the dining areas, and clean up of the dishes and common areas.
1. Is responsible for using the Christian Care chain of command
2. Upholds the mission statement, values and goals of Christian Care
3. Responsible for knowledge of and compliance, where applicable, with regulatory or credentialing agencies such as state and federal agencies, Medicare and Medicaid, and any other agency
4. Ensures that sanitation and safety standards are maintained above levels that are acceptable according to state and federal regulations
5. Assures that proper storage of food items and that the handling of food complies with current guidelines. Inspect storage areas on a weekly basis for proper temperatures, cleanliness, and order. Perform cleaning procedures as required
6. Ensures that the kitchen is safe and sanitary
7. Pours juices, fills water glasses for patient’s meals, serves desserts, prepares salads, and packages bread and rolls.
8. Cleans dining room tables and washes dishes. Clean tray carts, utility carts, serving area, cupboards and all related areas to the dish washing area
9. Helps to maintain the cleanliness of the tables and chairs, and removes spilled food and beverages from the floor
10. Assist in serving special guests
11. Assist on serving line
12. May prepare special nourishment/prepare snacks for the residents
13. Sorts the patient’s tray cards and inspects them for cleanliness
14. Maintain a clean and safe work environment according to department procedures
15. Attend or complete in-service education and departmental meetings as required
16. Maintain an upbeat and positive attitude in the kitchen to all staff and family members
17. Plans and assists in the service of holiday and special meals and functions
18. Works with all dietary employees to achieve a quality food service program
19. Monitors the food intake of all residents. Reports any problems to the Dietary Director
20. Responsible for all policies and procedures as they relate to the dietary department
21. Assist cook in putting away stock items
22. Compliance with facility policies and procedures for workplace safety, including infection control procedures, application of universal precautions for blood borne pathogens, use of protective equipment, and handling of hazardous materials
