Duties
- Perform thorough examinations, diagnoses, and treatments for a variety of animals, ensuring adherence to clinical ethical guidelines and veterinary standards.
- Conduct animal restraint, handling, and care using safe and humane techniques to facilitate procedures such as laboratory testing, animal catheterization, and pet grooming.
- Administer anesthesia (including general anesthesia), monitor vital signs during surgical procedures, and manage critical & intensive care cases with precision.
- Carry out veterinary surgeries ranging from routine spays/neuters to complex procedures like oncology treatments or cardiology interventions.
- Provide emergency medicine services, including stabilization of critically ill animals and emergency response protocols.
- Communicate effectively with pet owners regarding diagnosis, treatment plans, and preventive care to ensure optimal pet care and client satisfaction.
- Maintain accurate medical records using veterinary terminology and ensure compliance with all safety protocols related to aseptic technique and laboratory procedures.
Skills
- Strong knowledge of animal anatomy, physiology, internal medicine, dentistry, and surgery across various species including companion animals and exotics.
- Proficiency in animal restraint, handling techniques for dogs, cats, and other species; experience with equine or exotic animal medicine is a plus.
- Skilled in anesthesiology, general anesthesia administration, patient monitoring during surgical procedures, and critical care management.
- Familiarity with veterinary internal medicine topics such as cardiology, oncology, laboratory diagnostics, and emergency medicine practices.
- Excellent client communication skills to educate pet owners on health issues and treatment options confidently.
- Ability to perform animal husbandry tasks including grooming and basic animal care routines while maintaining high standards of animal welfare.
- Knowledge of veterinary terminology combined with clinical ethical guidelines ensures responsible decision-making in all situations.
