About JK Cars
John Kamal Cars is an owner-operated Buy Here Pay Here dealership in Southwest Houston with an active, growing in-house finance portfolio. While other dealerships are closing, we are expanding — adding staff, building structure, and laying the foundation for multiple locations. Every hire we make is a long-term investment, not a stopgap.
We are not a call center. We are not a franchise. We are a real dealership run by ownership that is present, decisive, and invested in the people who perform.
About This Role
We need someone who looks at a delinquent account and asks "what can I do to save this?" before ever considering escalation.
This is a dedicated loss mitigation and recovery position — not a general collections role. Accounts are assigned to you after passing 25 days past due. From that point, you own them. You exhaust every option to prevent repossession — and when prevention fails, you manage the repo process start to finish with professionalism and precision.
You are the last line of defense before a repo order goes out. And when it does go out, you are the one coordinating it.
What You'll Be Doing
- Work a dedicated pre-repo queue daily, prioritizing accounts by urgency and risk
- Get on the phone and have real, honest conversations — not scripts — with customers who are behind
- Negotiate deferments, revised arrangements, and last-chance commitments that are realistic for both sides
- Skip-trace unresponsive accounts using Idicore, TLO, DRN, or comparable tools
- Coordinate repossession orders with our licensed recovery company when all options are exhausted
- Manage repossessed collateral through the redemption, reinstatement, and disposition process
- Execute Texas-compliant Right to Cure notices and deficiency letter workflow
- Keep clean, detailed records of every contact, promise, and outcome in our DMS
- Report directly to ownership on queue status, repo volume, and recovery results
- Work closely with the collections team on account handoffs and escalation decisions
What We're Looking For
- Bilingual English/Spanish required — our customer base is predominantly Spanish-speaking; this is non-negotiable
- Minimum 2 years of BHPH or subprime auto finance recovery experience — not a general call center background
- Working knowledge of Texas repossession law — right-to-cure requirements, proper repo procedures, deficiency letter process
- Hands-on skip-tracing experience — Idicore, TLO, DRN, or comparable
- Experience coordinating directly with third-party repo/recovery companies
- Familiarity with iDMS, Auto Action, DealerSocket, or comparable dealer management software
- Strong gut instinct — knows when to show flexibility and when to hold firm
- Self-managed and accountable — you own your queue, nobody babysits you here
- Someone who takes it personally when an account goes to repo on their watch
Compensation & What You're Walking Into
- $19–$24/hr based on experience
- Monthly performance bonus tied directly to accounts saved from repossession
- Paid training
- Direct communication with ownership — no layers, no bureaucracy
- A clearly defined role with real authority over your queue
- A growing operation with a direct path to senior collections leadership as we expand
