Office-Based Mental Health/ Substance Use Counselor - Fayetteville

As our Office-Based Counselor, you will be responsible for providing counseling and case management services to clients diagnosed with mental illness and co-occurring substance use at SouthLight’s Fayetteville location.
This position also provides out-patient mental health and substance use treatment, individual & group counseling, screenings, and comprehensive clinical assessments and evaluations.
Schedule
FT- 40 hours per week, flexible.
Pay
$26.44+ per hour, based on credentials.

Full-time employees are eligible for medical benefits the first of the month 30 days after hire date. Options for a standard plan and an HSA plan with a $100 initial contribution and up to a $25 per paycheck match. 10 paid holidays and PTO hours which accrue at a rate of 10 hours per month. After 6 months employees are eligible to enroll in our 401(k) plan which has a 4% match. Company paid life insurance, short and long term disability, in house and paid training opportunities, and additional pay for working holidays. SouthLight is also an approved employer for the Public Service Loan Forgiveness Program (PSLF).
We are excited to offer an additional benefit of Clinical Supervision Reimbursement. We will provide a monthly reimbursement of up to $200 (full-time) or $100 (part-time) to each associate level clinician electing this benefit for no more than 2 years, or until licensure is completed, whichever is first. Licensures eligible to receive this benefit include LCSWA, LCMHCA, LMFTA, LPA, LCASA, and CADC.
Job Responsibilities of an Office-Based Counselor
- Provide intakes, screenings, ongoing assessments and evaluations, treatment and care coordination to individuals in need of treatment
- Provide case management and coordination support by identifying additional services needed for client care, coordinating and collaborating with relevant services and preparing and discussing discharge plan
- Maintain accurate client records including treatment plans, person center plans, psychosocial assessments, crisis plans and service notes in a fully integrated electronic medical record system
- Schedule random drug screens for clients as needed and/or according to treatment plan, while using results as therapeutic tool to determine the client’s progress in treatment
- Participate with treatment teams in developing appropriate treatment plans for clients being served in the program in accordance with the philosophy, goals and objectives of SouthLight
- Demonstrates a willingness to provide clinic coverage as needed, including coverage for the First Responder phone
- Familiarity with payor sources and provide documentation to obtain authorization to ensure clinical services provided are billable

- Leverage Eleos AI, an innovative clinical documentation tool that reduces note-writing time so you can spend more time focusing on participant care.
Qualifications of an Office-Based Counselor
- Demonstrated ability and willingness to learn, strong attention to detail, positive attitude and ability to be flexible and embrace change in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to build trust, actively listen, intentionally communicate, collaborate and problem solve
- Ability to provide compassionate, collaborative, inclusive and authentic client-centered approach to care delivery
- Ability to interact effectively with persons of widely diverse roles, backgrounds, cultures, and socio-economic classes, those in crises or resistant or negative toward organization
- Knowledgeable in the diagnosis and treatment of substance use and mental health disorders
- Adherence to SouthLight’s privacy policies and regulations, HIPPA and 42 CFR Part 2 concerning this information is required
- Highly organized and detail-oriented with excellent time management and prioritization skills
- Professional interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to work independently and as a member of a team
- Ability to use electronic medical record systems
- Comfortable with MS Office Suite and windows-based applications
- Experience working with Veterans or Veteran affiliation is preferred
