American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Step Down/Oncology position requiring 2 years of PCU/stepdown experience and oncology/chemo administration skills, with night shifts at a Michigan hospital.

General Medical/Oncology Step Down unit in a hospital setting

Patient population includes general medical and oncology stepdown patients
-
Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:4-6, with support staff when ratios flex higher and reduced assignments for chemo admits
-
Administers chemotherapy via IV and performs IV starts
-
Equipment includes Welch Allyn vital sign towers and Sigma IV pumps
-
Epic EMR used for documentation
-
Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts (19:00–07:30)
-
Every other weekend required; weekends assigned by manager/scheduler with self-scheduling available for remaining days
-
Floating required to other med/surg areas, including AU and ER, to care for med/surg patients
-
No on-call responsibilities

Active Michigan RN license required

Current BLS (AHA), NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS), and ONCC or ONS certification required (pending ONS certification accepted)

Minimum 2 years of PCU/stepdown experience required

Oncology/chemotherapy experience highly preferred

ONC certification highly preferred

Proficiency in IV chemotherapy administration and IV insertion required

Charge RN is typically not included in patient assignments, providing additional unit-level support

Block scheduling may be accommodated — include any specific scheduling requests when applying

Candidate must be available and fully committed for the first two weeks of the assignment

Any time-off requests made after an offer is extended must be discussed directly with the on-site manager

No time off approved for the July 4th holiday
