Job Description
Receives and processes human milk products, related supplies, and equipment. Processes physician orders for infant feedings, and records all Milk Bank Nutrition center activities accordingly.
Job Responsibility
- Receives and processes human milk and related supplies and equipment according to established policies and procedures.
- Confirms quantity and inspects items to ensure adherence to quality and infection control guidelines.Reports any damage, spoilage or discrepancies to supervisor.
- Labels, dates and stores items in appropriate refrigerators, freezers, or dry storage areas according to established policies and procedures.
- Rotates inventory and maintains proper storage temperatures and timeframes.Discards expired items, as required.
- Monitors and maintains milk nutrition inventory par levels.Keeps supervisor informed of par levels and supply needs.
- Maintains cleanliness of milk nutrition refrigerators, freezers, dry storage areas and related supplies and equipment.
- Receives and processes physician orders for infant feedings.
- Identifies, calculates, measures and prepares milk following to established policies, procedures, and sanitation guidelines.
- Adds fortifiers, liquid protein, and/or other nutritional additives to milk, as directed by physician orders.
- Refers to appropriate clinical team members for clarification, as needed.
- Delivers prepared milk to appropriate units for scheduled infant feedings.
- Enters all milk nutrition activities in department computer system and completes related paperwork.
- Performs related duties as required.
Job Qualification
- High School Diploma or equivalent, required.
- Successful completion of hospital training program within normal probationary period, required.
- Minimum of one (1) year related food service or inventory experience in a healthcare setting, required.
- Demonstrated competency in basic mathematics and inventory flow, required.
- Ability to communicate effectively and follow instructions verbally and in writing.
