Overview
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Activities Lead/Community Educator to join our team as a part-time employee. The ideal candidate will possess a strong commitment to empowering individuals by providing excellent person-centered community support and access services to adults with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (IDDs). Our Community Educators use our company vehicles to pick up clients and take them to scheduled activities in the community. Our preferred candidate will maintain a fun, safe and caring environment for our clients to grow and learn.
Responsibilities
Client/Customer Support
- Teaches community integration and uses the community activities as a teaching tool.
- Assures clients’ daily activities are appropriately carried out.
- Observes, tracks and assures service implementation as specified in program plans, as assigned.
- Assists Supervisor in meeting all aspects of production contracts, as assigned.
- Manages clients’ behavioral problems and other crises.
- Follows agency policies and procedures regarding incidents of Mistreatment, Abuse, Neglect or Exploitation (MANE).
- Maintains client confidentiality and assures rights are protected.
- Assists in providing direct support to clients as necessary.
- Client/Customer Support
- Transports clients to and from community-based programs.
Safety
- Follows safety and emergency procedures; maintains a safe environment.
- Follows training and instructions to ensure safe equipment and vehicle operation.
- Assists Supervisor in complying with all relevant state and federal health and safety regulations and guidelines.
- Assures medications are accounted for and dispensed properly (as applicable).
- Assures medication sheets are properly documented (as applicable).
Documentation
- Tracks program and client progress by writing notes daily.
- Writes incident reports when needed.
Communication/Coordination
- Communicates, in an appropriate, respectful and effective manner, relevant day-to-day and emergency information to, from and between the program, families, customers, and other involved agencies and their respective employees, as directed.
- Follows appropriate lines of communication and assures that Supervisor (or designee) is well informed.
Site/Equipment Maintenance
- Follows agency procedures in assuring agency vehicles are cleaned and maintained, as appropriate.
- Keeps records and receipts of the use of agency funds for fuel, activities and other business expenses.
Requirements
- Highschool Diploma or GED
- Maintains necessary training and certifications.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills; effectively communicates with participants, clients, families, employees and others.
- Effectively implements plans.
- Professionally interacts with a diverse group of individuals.
- Ability to work flexible hours, locations and assignments.
- Ability to use crisis intervention techniques.
- Ability to meet physical demands of the position.
- Working knowledge of basic computer programs and phone applications.
- Must be at least 23 years of age with a good driving record.
- Valid Colorado motor vehicle license.
- Ability to meet and maintain agency driving requirements and operate agency vehicles.
