Description: A Guard House server will be an expert at welcoming our guests into our home with warmth, enthusiasm, and grace. This candidate will have a desire to continue to learn and grow within our organization. The ideal server candidate is positive, responsible, hands-on, and a team player who has strong communication skills and can handle multiple tasks in a friendly manner with grace and composure. We are open Tuesday through Saturday for dinner. We are open on Easter, Mother's Day, Thanksgiving, and New Year's Eve. We are closed on Christmas Eve, Christmas, and New Years Day
Responsibilities:
- Arrive on time, fully prepared for service, and change into a clean, pressed uniform with name tag.
- Complete all assigned opening and closing side work to ensure the dining room is service ready at all times.
- Inspect all table linens for cleanliness, condition, and proper sizing before use.
- Polish and wipe all B&B plates, flatware, glassware, and table lamps to maintain presentation standards.
- Warmly greet each table upon seating, using Members’ names whenever possible.
- Practice genuine, confident suggestive selling and highlight new menu items, features, and promotions.
- Demonstrate proper wine service technique and maintain a willingness to learn and grow under the guidance of our Sommelier.
- Take orders accuraetyly using proper seat numbers.
- Maintain your station throughout service by refreshing cocktails, clearing as needed, and anticipating guest needs.
- Work with flexibility, positivity, and a team-focused mindset.
- Uphold proper table-service etiquette, including:
- Serving all women first and the host last
- Serving food from the left
- Removing plates from the right
- Serving beverages from the right
- Presenting dessert menus and offering coffee and after-dinner beverages
- Build rapport with Members and colleagues to foster a welcoming, community-driven environment.
- Reset tables and thoroughly clean your station prior to departing for the day.
- Close all chits accurately, complete end-of-shift reports, and check out with the Manager before leaving.
- Follow all policies and procedures outlined in the Employee Handbook.
- Take ownership of every situation and ensure each Member receives exceptional, personalized service.
Skills and Requirements:
- Be happy and constantly smiling, and welcome our guests with a friendly demeanor into our home
- Demonstrate a clear understanding and competence in all steps of service
- Have a desire to build knowledge of classic cookery, wine, beer, and cocktails
- Maintain accurate knowledge on all menu items and beverage program
- Derive pleasure from providing genuine hospitality
- Demonstrate proper professional decorum
- Prior experience in a food-serving establishment
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Highly developed interpersonal skills
- Working knowledge of point-of-sale systems
- High level of stamina to work on feet for extended periods
- Must be able to lift 25 lbs
- Bending and lifting required
- ServSafe Food Certified/TIP Certified is a plus

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $15.59 - $30.00 per hour
Expected hours: 32 – 40 per week
