MedOp Solutions is seeking an experienced Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) Registered Nurse for a 12-week travel assignment. This position is ideal for a PACU nurse with experience in preoperative care, Phase I PACU, and Phase II Recovery, who is comfortable caring for both adult and adolescent patients in a fast-paced perioperative environment.
The ideal candidate has experience recovering post-cardiac catheterization patients, is proficient in EPIC, and excels in providing safe, patient-centered care throughout the perioperative continuum.

- Nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:4
- One travel position available

- Ambulatory surgery, pre-op, Phase I PACU, and Phase II Recovery
- Adults
- Adolescents
- Pediatric patients (over 12 months of age)
- Orthopedic surgical patients
- General surgery patients
- Cardiac catheterization recovery patients
- Bariatric, ENT, gynecology, urology, ophthalmology, podiatry, robotics, plastics, and endoscopic surgery patients
- Provide comprehensive preoperative and postoperative nursing care
- Recover patients in Phase I PACU and Phase II Recovery
- Monitor patients recovering from anesthesia and sedation
- Recover patients following cardiac catheterization procedures
- Perform preoperative assessments and patient education
- Administer medications and monitor patient responses
- Initiate and maintain IV therapy
- Perform pain management and discharge education
- Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesia providers, pharmacists, respiratory therapists, and the interdisciplinary healthcare team
- Document patient care accurately in EPIC while maintaining quality and safety standards
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
- Current Illinois Registered Professional Nurse (RN) license
- Minimum 2 years of recent PACU experience
- Previous travel nursing experience
- Current American Heart Association:
- Experience recovering post-cardiac catheterization patients
- Experience in Pre-Op, Phase I PACU, and Phase II Recovery
- EPIC experience
- Strong assessment, critical thinking, and communication skills
- Previous Charge Nurse experience
- Community hospital experience
- Trauma Nurse Specialist (TNS)
- Emergency Communications Registered Nurse (ECRN)
- Certified Pediatric Nurse (CPN)
- Certified Emergency Nurse (CEN)
- Experience with plastic surgery recovery procedures

- Typical scheduled shift: 9:00 AM – 5:30 PM
- Variable start times (6:00 AM, 9:00 AM, 10:00 AM, or 11:00 AM)
- No weekend requirement
- No on-call responsibilities
- One pre-approved time-off request permitted
- 30-minute unpaid meal break
- Holiday coverage according to facility policy
