Responsibilities
- Prepare and cook menu items according to established recipes and quality standards, ensuring consistency and excellence in every dish
- Operate kitchen equipment safely and efficiently, including ovens, grills, fryers, and knives with expert slicing techniques
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of workstations, adhering strictly to food safety management practices and safety standards in production
- Assist with meal prep, food handling, and plating to ensure timely service during busy hours
- Communicate effectively with kitchen staff to coordinate orders, manage workflow, and uphold high standards of food quality
- Follow proper food safety procedures, including proper storage, sanitation, and handling of ingredients
- Support menu planning efforts by providing input on ingredient availability and preparation methods
Requirements
- Proven experience in food service or restaurant environments, demonstrating strong culinary skills and knowledge of food industry best practices
- Familiarity with dietary department procedures and dietary aide experience is a plus
- Skilled in food preparation techniques such as slicing, dicing, portioning, and recipe adherence
- Knowledge of operating kitchen equipment safely while maintaining high safety standards in production
- Excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with kitchen staff and front-of-house team
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail
- Prior catering or meal preparation experience is advantageous but not required; enthusiasm for learning is essential
