Position Overview
Facility is seeking an experienced Travel ICU Registered Nurse (RN) to provide high-quality nursing care in a high-acuity Stepdown Unit (SDU). The ideal candidate must have prior ICU experience and be comfortable caring for critically ill patients requiring close monitoring, advanced clinical assessment, and timely interventions.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform systematic, comprehensive, and accurate patient assessments across the lifespan, from pediatric to geriatric populations.
- Provide competent direct patient care based on patient condition, acuity, and unit requirements.
- Demonstrate proficiency with emergency equipment and procedures.
- Monitor patients for changes in condition and respond appropriately to urgent or emergent situations.
- Maintain complete and accurate documentation of the nursing process, patient progress, and education.
- Follow hospital policies, procedures, professional standards, and applicable patient-safety guidelines.
- Maintain patient confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA requirements.
- Apply National Patient Safety Goals, Universal Protocol, and two-patient-identifier practices.
- Use safe patient-transfer techniques and appropriate body mechanics.
- Prioritize nursing care based on patient needs and changes in clinical condition.
- Provide pre-operative and post-operative assessment and patient/family education as applicable.
- Assess patient and family understanding of procedures, treatment plans, and instructions.
- Support a collaborative, patient-centered environment with physicians, nurses, and other members of the healthcare team.
- Maintain professional accountability and identify opportunities for clinical and professional development.
- For PAT-related responsibilities, review Pre-Admission Testing orders for completeness and appropriateness based on the planned procedure, patient age, and current health status.
- Support timely completion of required patient testing and preparation.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 1 year of ICU experience – REQUIRED
- Experience in a high-acuity Stepdown/SDU environment preferred
- Strong clinical assessment and critical-thinking skills
- Ability to manage patients with complex and changing conditions
- Strong documentation and communication skills
Required Licenses & Certifications
- Active RN License – Required
- BLS – Required
- ACLS – Required
Education
- Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing
- Associate Degree or Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing preferred
Important Candidate Requirement
This is a high-acuity Stepdown Unit. Candidates MUST have ICU experience. Candidates without prior ICU experience should not be submitted.
Ideal Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate is an experienced ICU RN who can confidently manage high-acuity patients, perform detailed assessments, recognize clinical deterioration, respond quickly to changes in patient condition, and work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
Pay: $55.00 - $65.00 per hour
