Job Summary
The City of Corsicana is seeking an experienced Mechanic Assistant to perform skilled mechanical work on a variety of gasoline and diesel-powered vehicles and equipment. This position is responsible for diagnosing issues, completing repairs, and maintaining a preventative maintenance program for City vehicles and mechanical equipment.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Diagnose mechanical problems on City vehicles and equipment

Perform skilled repairs on engines, transmissions, brakes, steering components, and other systems

Maintain preventative maintenance schedules

Order and acquire parts and materials for repairs

Operate trucks up to 2½-ton capacity within yard or shop area

Perform cleaning and detailing of equipment using power washers and other tools

Document maintenance and repair activities accurately

Follow all safety regulations and procedures
Physical Requirements
-
Ability to bend, kneel, crawl, twist, and raise arms for prolonged periods
-
Regularly required to sit, stand, walk, and work in confined spaces
-
Must be able to lift, carry, and push/pull up to 100 lbs
-
Frequent use of hand tools, air tools, power tools, and small parts
-
Ability to climb on and under vehicles for inspection and service
-
Exposure to inclement weather, dust, grease, fumes, and loud noise
-
Occasional evening, weekend, and holiday work may be required
Education & Experience

High School Diploma or GED required

Strong mechanical knowledge of engines, transmissions, and vehicle systems
-
Experience with diagnostic tools and mechanical servicing techniques preferred

Knowledge of current vehicle models and servicing methods

Must have and maintain a valid Texas Driver’s License and clean driving record
