Snow Removal Salt Truck Operator
Torchwood Landscaping — Grand Rapids, MI Area
We’re Looking for the Person Who Shows Up
Snow removal isn't for everyone.
When a winter storm hits Grand Rapids, our customers don't care that it's 2 AM, 10 degrees outside, or that you've already been working for several hours. They need their property cleared, salted, and safe.
That's why we're looking for a reliable, hardworking Salt Truck Operator who understands that showing up is not optional and that doing the job right the first time matters.
At Torchwood Landscaping, we're building a team of people who take pride in their work, look out for one another, and do what they say they're going to do.
What You'll Do
- Operate a salt truck during snow and ice events
- Apply salt accurately and according to property needs
- Service commercial and residential properties throughout the Grand Rapids area
- Follow assigned routes and property-specific instructions
- Monitor salt levels and equipment throughout the shift
- Perform basic pre- and post-storm equipment checks
- Communicate with the snow removal team when issues arise
- Keep equipment clean and report mechanical problems
- Pay attention to detail so properties are completed correctly the first time
- Work independently while still being part of a larger snow removal team
This Job Requires
Reliability above everything.
Snow removal is weather-dependent, which means you need to be willing and able to work when storms happen — including nights, early mornings, weekends, holidays, and long shifts.
We're looking for someone who:
- Shows up every time they are scheduled
- Can handle working outside in cold, snowy, and icy conditions
- Takes responsibility for their work
- Has a strong attention to detail
- Can follow directions and property-specific instructions
- Can work independently without constant supervision
- Takes pride in doing things correctly
- Understands that small mistakes can create expensive problems
- Is calm and focused when things get busy
- Is willing to work long hours when the storm requires it
- Has a good attitude, even when the conditions aren't good
- Is humble enough to take direction and mature enough to take responsibility
What We Don't Want
This probably isn't the right job for you if:
- You aren't dependable
- You need to be reminded to do the basics
- You don't like working in the cold
- You are looking for something where you can leave when things get difficult
- You rush through work just to say you're finished
- You don't pay attention to property-specific instructions
- You're the type of person who says, "That's good enough."
Good enough doesn't work in snow removal.
We want people who look at a finished property and know they did it right.
Experience
Previous snow removal, landscaping, construction, trucking, or equipment experience is preferred but not necessarily required.
What matters most is work ethic, reliability, maturity, and attention to detail.
A valid driver's license and a clean driving record are required.
Why Work With Torchwood?
We're not interested in building a company full of people who simply show up, punch a clock, and go home.
We're building a team of people who can be trusted.
If you're the kind of person who shows up when you say you will, works hard when nobody is watching, takes pride in your work, and doesn't need someone standing over your shoulder all night, we'd like to talk with you.
If that sounds like you, apply.
We're looking for people we can count on when the weather gets ugly.
Pay: $27.00 - $33.00 per hour
Work Location: In person
