- Provide guidance to all Technicians having trouble diagnosing and/or repairing vehicles. Advise and provide support on difficult-to-diagnose cases by confirming the accuracy and quality of the data, prepare vehicles or required diagnostic tools and verify systematic diagnosis has been performed.
- Participates with Service Manager in the screening, interviewing and selection process of new service technicians.
- Provide feedback on development and training needs of technicians.
- Coach, Lead, Train, Develop and Supervise all Technicians within the Department.
- Ensures work is being completed to manufacturer’s standards. Fixed First Visit.
- Knowledge of all tools, computers and equipment required to diagnose, troubleshoot, repair and service vehicles.
- Ensure proper usage of CDK & X-time and all other required software.
- Maintain a Fixed Right the First Time average equal to or above the Dealer Performance Group (DPG) Market average.
- Assists the Service Manager in the Performance and Corrective Action Review process for shop Team Members.
- Assume responsibility for any vehicle that has returned due to a failed repair attempt; which includes overseeing the repair and quality control check of the vehicle.
- Open cases with MB Technical Support as needed as well as maintain a good relationship with the Technical Support Team and Service Engineering.
- Maintains the shop (up-to-date) on computer and diagnostic equipment updates and performs software upgrades. Keeps all shop equipment calibrated periodically and as directed by the Service Manager.
- Assists Service Manager to ensure that all required safety policies, practices and procedures and training are followed by the technicians.
- Conducts periodic quality control evaluations on completed jobs.
- Ensures shop is neat, clean and organized at all times.
- Dispatch Work to the technicians.
Qualifications
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Individual should possess:
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required.
- Minimum 3 years of Mercedes-Benz Shop Foreman experience. Certified Mercedes Benz.
- Strong Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSA’s) surrounding automotive repair, maintenance, diagnostics, tools and systems.
- Outstanding leadership and interpersonal skills which focus on treating employees with respect.
- Strong time management & quantitative skills.
- CDK DMS Usage.
- Comfortable with ambiguity in a dynamic, changing environment.
- Unwavering commitment to ethical business practices.
- Understands, keeps abreast of, and complies with federal, state and local regulations that affect service operations, such as hazardous waste disposal, OSHA, Right-To-Know, and other regulations.
- Professional appearance and work ethic
- Valid Driver License.
