About Dare To Be Academy
Dare To Be Academy is a home-based microschool in Maricopa, AZ, designed exclusively for autistic children and neighboring neurodiversities in grades K–5. With a 3:1 student-to-guide ratio and an interest-based, sensory-friendly environment, we provide an education that fits each child — not the other way around. We are ESA-approved and built on a foundation of love, accountability, and faith.
Responsibilities
- Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging, differentiated instruction for K–5 students with autism and other neurodiverse learning profiles
- Create and maintain a structured, sensory-friendly classroom environment that supports student regulation and learning
- Develop individualized lesson plans aligned with each student's strengths, interests, and learning goals
- Implement interest-based, hands-on curriculum including life skills activities such as cooking, gardening, and self-advocacy
- Build and maintain consistent routines that support predictability and student success
- Use evidence-based strategies (ABA principles, social-emotional learning, visual supports, etc.) to support neurodiverse learners
- Communicate proactively and compassionately with families regarding student progress, needs, and celebrations
- Collaborate closely with the on-site social worker and support staff to provide a holistic, team-based approach
- Maintain accurate student records, progress documentation, and ESA-related reporting as required
- Supervise students during transitions, breaks, and daily routines to ensure safety and wellbeing
- Provide or coordinate personal care assistance when needed (toileting, feeding, dressing, etc.)
- Assist with lifting or repositioning students as needed (up to 50 lbs)
- Uphold and model school values: safety, trust, accountability, and celebrating every learner
- Other duties as assigned by administration
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Education, Special Education, or a related field (required)
- CPR and First Aid Certification, or willing to obtain certification preferred
- Experience working with autistic children and/or neurodiverse learners (strongly preferred)
- Familiarity with ABA strategies, sensory processing, and AAC tools
- Fingerprint Clearance Card (required)
- With Neurodiverse & Autism Related Trainings (Preferred but not required)
- Strong communication, patience, and collaborative skills
- Ability to physically support students — lifting, repositioning, and personal care as needed
- A genuine heart for children who learn differently
- A personal relationship with Jesus (required)
Pay: $22.00 per hour
