The Assistant Dean of Student Culture is a school-based leadership role aligned to DC Public Charter School (DCPCS) expectations, OSSE guidance, and the HUMSMS Student–Family Handbook. The role supports the implementation of equitable, restorative, and data-informed systems that promote positive student behavior, strong attendance, and a safe, inclusive school climate.

Implement and monitor schoolwide culture and behavior systems aligned with the StudentFamily Handbook and DC regulations.

Lead Tier IIII behavior and attendance interventions within the MTSS framework.

Facilitate restorative conferences, mediations, and reentry meetings.

Ensure discipline practices are equitable, instructional, and compliant with OSSE and DCPCS requirements.

Partner with families to develop and monitor student support plans.

Collaborate with instructional, counseling, and special education teams.

Supervise key school operations including arrival, dismissal, and transitions.
1. Reduction in out-of-school suspensions and disciplinary removals compared to the previous school year.
2. Decrease in disproportionality across student subgroups in discipline data.
3. Improvement in average daily attendance and reduction in chronic absenteeism.
4. Timely completion and documentation of behavior interventions and restorative processes.
5. Positive feedback from families regarding communication and responsiveness.
6. Increased staff fidelity to restorative and culturally responsive behavior practices.
Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred.
3–5 years of experience working with middle or high school students.
Strong commitment to restorative practices, equity, and student dignity.
