Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Extrusion Supervisor to support our operations within our extrusion department. This role is vital in overseeing the production of high-quality extruded materials, ensuring safety and quality standards are maintained, and optimizing workflow efficiency. As an energetic leader, you will coordinate daily activities on the factory floor, supervise extrusion processes, and foster a culture of continuous improvement. Your mechanical knowledge and factory experience will drive operational excellence and uphold our commitment to safety and quality.
Position Summary
The Production Supervisor is responsible for the daily supervision of hourly production employees to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality manufacturing operations. This role provides direct leadership on the production floor, ensures compliance with safety, quality, and company policies, and drives productivity to meet operational goals.
Key Responsibilities
Safety & Compliance
· Enforce all safety rules, policies, and procedures; address unsafe behaviors immediately
· Conduct daily safety talks and ensure proper PPE usage
· Report, investigate, and follow up on safety incidents and near misses
· Ensure compliance with company policies, plant rules, and work instructions
· Promote safety, quality, teamwork and good housekeeping at all times.
Production & Operations
· Supervise daily production activities to meet output, quality, and schedule requirements
· Direct work assignments of associates and ensure policies and procedures are followed.
· Monitor workflow, staffing levels, and equipment performance
· Troubleshoot production issues and escalate as needed
· Comply with HPDS, ISO, TS, HPS, continuous improvement, problem solving guidelines and regulations.
· Regularly practice HPS through lean manufacturing events.
· Perform simple maintenance checks on equipment and reports equipment defects, malfunctions and generate work orders as needed.
· Coordinate with Maintenance, Quality, and Engineering to resolve downtime or defects
Leadership & Employee Management
· Lead, coach, and develop hourly production employees
· Assign work, monitor performance, and provide real-time feedback
· Address attendance, performance, and behavioral issues, including corrective actions
· Support training of new hires and cross-training of existing employees
Quality
· Ensure product quality standards and customer requirements are met
· Enforce quality procedures and respond to quality concerns or defects
· Support audits and continuous improvement initiatives
Administrative & Communication
· Complete daily production reports, data entry, attendance tracking, employee time sheets and required documentation
· Communicate expectations, goals, and changes clearly to employees
· Participate in shift handoffs and production meetings
Education
Minimum: High school diploma or GED
Preferred: Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree
Experience
Required:
· Minimum 3 years of supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment
· Strong working knowledge of production processes and safety requirements
· Ability to lead and motivate a diverse workforce
· Experience in high volume manufacturing
· Prior experience handling employee relations issues
· Basic computer skills (Excel, email, reports, production systems)
Preferred:
· Experience in Tier 1 Automotive
· Knowledge of lean manufacturing or continuous improvement principles
