Job Summary
The Building Maintenance Employee is responsible for maintaining the overall condition, safety, and functionality of company buildings and facilities. This role performs routine inspections, preventive maintenance, and repairs across multiple systems, ensuring compliance with safety standards and minimizing downtime.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform routine building maintenance and general repairs, including:
- Plumbing (minor leaks, fixture replacement)
- Electrical (basic troubleshooting, lighting repairs)
- Carpentry (doors, locks, shelving, minor construction)
- Painting, patching, and drywall repairs
- Conduct preventive maintenance inspections and document findings
- Respond to maintenance requests and emergency repairs in a timely manner
- Maintain HVAC filters and assist with basic HVAC upkeep
- Ensure facilities meet safety, health, and operational standards
- Maintain clean, safe, and organized mechanical and maintenance areas
- Coordinate with vendors and contractors when specialized work is required
- Track maintenance work orders and parts usage
- Follow all company policies, safety procedures, and OSHA regulations
- Support store operations by minimizing disruptions during business hours
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 2+ years of building or facilities maintenance experience preferred
- Basic knowledge of plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and general construction
- Ability to use hand and power tools safely
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Ability to prioritize tasks and work independently
- Good communication and teamwork skills
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, climb ladders, and work in confined spaces
- Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying conditions
- Lift between 50-100 pounds occasionally
