About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager to lead capital projects within steel manufacturing and heavy industrial environments. This role serves as the primary point of accountability for project scope, budget, schedule, risk, and overall execution while acting as the key liaison between clients, engineering teams, contractors, vendors, and company leadership.
The successful candidate will have a proven track record delivering industrial capital projects from project development through engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning, and closeout. This individual will serve as the face of the project, driving alignment across stakeholders while ensuring projects are delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and in accordance with client expectations.
Based in Pittsburgh, this position supports active and upcoming projects and offers meaningful involvement in the planning and execution of complex industrial projects through their lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
Project Leadership & Client Management
- Lead capital projects from development through construction, startup, and project closeout
- Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, owners, contractors, suppliers, OEM vendors, and internal stakeholders
- Establish project execution strategies and drive alignment across project teams
- Lead project meetings, progress reviews, and client presentations
- Build and maintain strong client relationships while ensuring a high level of customer satisfaction
- Provide executive-level reporting on project status, risks, forecasts, and performance
Project Delivery
- Manage project scope, budget, schedule, risk, quality, and change control activities
- Develop and maintain project schedules, forecasts, and execution plans
- Monitor project performance and proactively identify risks, mitigation strategies, and opportunities
- Evaluate change orders and assess associated cost and schedule impacts
- Ensure project objectives are achieved while maintaining strong financial and operational performance
Engineering & Construction Coordination
- Coordinate multidisciplinary engineering and design teams through all phases of project execution
- Manage interfaces between engineering, procurement, construction, and client teams
- Support procurement activities and vendor coordination as required
- Oversee construction administration, field coordination, and issue resolution
- Maintain regular site engagement to support safe and efficient project execution
- Ensure project deliverables meet contractual requirements, quality standards, and client expectations
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management, or a related technical discipline
- 10+ years of experience managing industrial capital projects
- Experience supporting steel manufacturing, steel processing, metals production, rolling mill, melt shop, or related heavy industrial facilities
- Demonstrated experience managing projects through engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning, and startup
- Proven success managing project budgets, schedules, forecasting, and project controls
- Strong client-facing experience with the ability to effectively manage stakeholders at all levels
- Experience coordinating contractors, vendors, engineering teams, and construction activities
- Excellent leadership, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills
Preferred Qualifications
- PMP certification
- Experience serving as an Owner's Representative
- Experience with EPC, EPCM, consulting engineering, or industrial project delivery environments
- Experience leading capital improvement, modernization, brownfield, or expansion projects
- Experience working directly within steel manufacturing facilities or supporting steel industry capital programs
