Aerospace Manufacturing company is looking for an experienced Estimator. This position develops quote packages in response to customers’ Requests for Quote (RFQ) for Aerospace Tubing and Welded Duct assemblies. Reviews and interprets customer furnished designs to prepare cost estimates for manufacturing methods and processes, including associated non-recurring and tooling costs.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Review and interpret customer engineering design drawings, BOM, Models and specifications to develop manufacturing methods and processes for the purpose of generating cost estimates, including labor, material, and internal or sub-tier processing costs.
- Collaborate with staff from other functional areas as needed to ensure feasibility and accuracy of manufacturing solutions and estimates.
- Prepare clear and detailed cost estimates that meet deadlines.
- Develop and/or maintain estimating tools to ensure the greatest accuracy of future bids and streamline the estimating process.
- Obtain cost estimates of raw materials, hardware and Outside Processing (OP) required for customer quotations.
- Coordinate with customers’ buyers to ensure quote submittals are accurate and meet the customer’s expectations for content and due date.
- Present completed RFQ’s to leadership team succinctly and clearly for appropriate approval.
- Utilize CAD software (Catia v5) to view and analyze parts/assemblies for specific characteristics.
· Accept and adapt easily to change and perform other duties as assigned by management.
Requirements:
- At least 3 years of experience in an Aerospace manufacturing environment.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and customer specifications.
· Understanding of tube bending, assembly, sheet metal and machining methods, processes and equipment, including nonrecurring/tooling development activities utilized in the Aerospace industry.
- Proficient in the use of computers and Microsoft Office applications and knowledge of MRP/ERP systems.
- Business acumen regarding product costing and profitability.
- The ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
- Great communication skills to work with customer engineers and buyers.
- Basic knowledge of CATIA v5 and Model-Based Definition (MBD) interpretation: You should be able to understand and interpret engineering data expressed in MBD formats.
- U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident (ITAR requirement).
Bonus points if you have:
- Experience with cost estimating software programs.
- A college degree in engineering, manufacturing, or a related field.
- Knowledge of quality control procedures in aerospace manufacturing.
- Background in sales and customer service
