Key Responsibilities-
Maintenance & Equipment: · Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain electrical systems on extrusion lines, PET/XPET processing, recycling systems, and thermoforming machines. · Install, maintain, and troubleshoot 480V 3-phase power systems, Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs), motors, transformers, and lighting systems. · Diagnose automation and control issues using PLCs (Programmable Logic Controllers), HMIs, relays, and sensors. · Maintain and troubleshoot facility electrical integrations, including motorized makeup air louvers, HVAC controls, fire alarm panels, and Class II combustible dust collection systems.
Safety, Compliance & Documentation: · Champion a strong safety culture by strictly adhering to Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures, NFPA 70E (Arc Flash) protocols, and utilizing proper PPE at all times. · Ensure all electrical work complies with OSHA, NEC, and environmental standards, particularly regarding hazardous location classifications (Combustible Dust environments). · Perform all work in accordance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and SQF standards, ensuring conduit, panels, and repairs pose zero cross-contamination or Foreign Material (FM) risk. · Maintain accurate maintenance records, work orders, and updated electrical schematics.
Startup & Expansion Support: · Actively participate in startup operations, equipment installations, line expansions, and capacity increases by running conduit, pulling wire, and terminating connections. · Support commissioning, debugging, and ramp-up of new equipment and control processes. · Help build and standardize electrical spare parts programs and documentation suitable for a growing operation.
Preventative Maintenance & Continuous Improvement: · Execute scheduled preventative maintenance (PM) on critical electrical panels, motors, and facility systems (e.g., thermal imaging, connection tightening). · Analyze electrical downtime trends and root causes to drive corrective actions and process improvements. · Implement reliability best practices to improve MTBF (Mean Time Between Failures) and overall equipment uptime.
Requirements-
Education/Certification: High School Diploma or equivalent required. A valid State Journeyman Electrician License, or an Associate’s Degree in Electrical/Electromechanical Technology, or completion of a formal apprenticeship program is highly preferred. ·
Experience: Minimum of 3 to 5 years of proven experience as an Industrial Electrician in a manufacturing or production environment (Plastics, thermoforming, or food & beverage manufacturing experience is a strong plus).
Technical Skills: Strong proficiency with 480V/277V and 208V/120V systems. Ability to read and interpret complex electrical schematics, blueprints, and equipment manuals. Working knowledge of PLC troubleshooting (Allen-Bradley, Siemens, etc.).
Safety Knowledge: Comprehensive understanding of OSHA electrical safety regulations, LOTO, and the NEC. Prior experience working in combustible dust environments (Class II locations) is highly desirable.
Work Schedule: Flexibility to support on-call rotation and off-shift coverage to ensure continuous 24/7 operations.
Physical Demands: Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and climb ladders/stairs for extended periods. Must be able to safely lift up to 50 lbs and operate high-reach equipment (scissor lifts, boom lifts). Must comply with all GMP facility gowning requirements.
