Duties
- Prepare and cook menu items according to established recipes, standards, and presentation guidelines
- Operate and maintain kitchen equipment safely and efficiently, including ovens, grills, fryers, and slicers
- Follow food safety management protocols to ensure proper handling, storage, and sanitation of ingredients and equipment
- Assist in menu planning by preparing ingredients ahead of time and suggesting improvements based on kitchen needs
- Maintain cleanliness of workstations, utensils, and cooking areas to meet safety standards in production
- Communicate effectively with kitchen staff to coordinate meal preparation and ensure timely service
- Adhere strictly to recipe instructions and portion control to ensure consistency across all dishes
Skills
- Proven experience in food preparation within a restaurant or food service environment
- Strong knowledge of food safety standards and proper food handling techniques
- Excellent knife skills with proficiency in slicing techniques for various ingredients
- Ability to operate kitchen equipment safely and efficiently under pressure
- Familiarity with dietary department practices and dietary aide experience is a plus
- Experience in menu planning, meal preparation, and catering operations is highly desirable
- Effective communication skills to collaborate seamlessly with kitchen team members and front-of-house staff
