Now Hiring: Food Safety / Quality Technician (Lab Experience Required)
A leading Fortune 500 company in Cary, NC is seeking a Food Safety / Quality Technician to assist with special projects and provide frontline support to manufacturing operations. This is an exciting opportunity to become a key resource in ensuring quality, compliance, and food safety excellence within the facility.
This role is primarily floor-based, approximately 70% on the production floor completing quality audits and supporting operations, and about 30% office-based work. It requires strong presence on the floor, process verification, and operational support rather than laboratory testing.
TEMPORARY ASSIGNMENT 11am - 9pm
HERE’S A TASTE OF WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING:
Quality Control
- Provide on-shift guidance and support for quality and food safety initiatives
- Verify Certificates of Analysis (COAs) for incoming raw materials and packaging
- Respond to food safety incidents
- Review and verify Critical Control Points (CCPs)
- Execute the environmental monitoring program
Leadership & Documentation
- Act as facility document control lead
- Communicate deficiencies and drive corrective follow-up
- Serve as a critical on-shift quality team member
Audit & Compliance
- Conduct plant food safety and security audits
- Identify food safety hazards and process improvement opportunities
- Perform daily product evaluations
- Conduct employee training on food safety, HACCP, GMPs, and SOPs
Cross-Functional Support
- Support plant projects, including new equipment and product launches
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives
- Take ownership of critical pre-requisite programs as an Internal Auditor
- Collaborate within a highly engaged and growth-focused team environment
YOUR RECIPE FOR SUCCESS (Required Qualifications):
- High School Diploma or GED with lab experience
- Prior experience in food safety, microbiology, or quality assurance in a lab setting
- Strong computer skills (Microsoft Office required)
- Experience with SAP preferred
- Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
