Position Overview
Phoenix-Lamar is seeking an experienced Technical Quoting Specialist to manage customer requests from initial inquiry through quotation and order processing.
This hands-on, customer-facing position combines technical estimating, project coordination and relationship management. The successful candidate will review customer drawings and bills of material, identify missing or problematic specifications, and prepare accurate, competitive quotes.
The position serves as an important link among Phoenix-Lamar's customers, purchasing, inventory, engineering and manufacturing teams. It requires sound technical judgment, attention to detail and the ability to protect customer commitments and company margins.
Primary Responsibilities
· Manage incoming requests for quotation for custom cable assemblies and wire harnesses.
· Review electrical drawings, schematics, wire lists, bills of material and customer specifications.
· Identify incomplete information, design conflicts, sourcing risks and potential manufacturing problems before a quote is issued.
· Communicate directly with customers to clarify requirements and help resolve design or specification issues.
· Develop accurate material, labor and production cost estimates.
· Verify available inventory and determine which additional components must be sourced.
· Coordinate with purchasing, inventory and manufacturing staff to confirm costs, production requirements and realistic delivery schedules.
· Prepare clear, accurate and timely customer quotations that support competitive pricing and appropriate margins.
· Process customer orders and ensure that quoted requirements are accurately transferred into production.
· Serve as a primary point of contact for assigned customers, including responding to questions, communicating project status and addressing problems.
· Monitor active quotations, orders and customer commitments through completion.
· Maintain accurate quote, order, pricing and customer documentation in company systems.
· Support production teams in resolving questions involving drawings, materials, specifications and customer requirements.
· Build strong, responsive relationships with customers, suppliers and internal teams.
Required Qualifications
· Experience in cable assembly, wire harness, electronics, electromechanical or related contract manufacturing.
· Experience preparing technical quotations or cost estimates using drawings and bills of material.
· Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, schematics, wire lists and technical specifications.
· Understanding of material costs, labor estimating, manufacturing processes and production lead times.
· Experience working with electronic components, connectors, terminals, wire, cable and related materials.
· Strong customer communication and problem-solving skills.
· Ability to manage multiple RFQs, orders and customer issues simultaneously.
· Strong attention to detail and commitment to accurate documentation.
· Ability to work effectively with customers, suppliers, purchasing, inventory and production personnel.
· Proficiency with Microsoft Office and experience with ERP, quoting or manufacturing systems.
Preferred Qualifications
· Knowledge of IPC/WHMA-A-620 requirements and cable and wire harness workmanship standards.
· Experience with custom, low-volume or high-mix manufacturing.
· Experience identifying design-for-manufacturability issues.
· Experience sourcing electrical and electronic components and evaluating substitutions.
· Familiarity with ISO 9001 or comparable quality-management systems.
· Technical degree, industry certification or equivalent practical manufacturing experience.

Pay: $70,000.00 - $85,000.00 per year
