Under direction, performs advanced technical work in areas of fire protection, prevention, and education programs; conducts plan review of industrial, commercial, residential, fire protection systems, and special hazards occupancies; conducts fire inspections of highly technical and hazardous occupancies in new construction; enforces building, fire and municipal codes and nationally recognized standards; meets and confers with developers at conceptual stages of new projects. May exercise functional and technical supervision over lower-level staff.

1. Unofficial transcripts of an Associates degree or equivalent from an accredited college or university in fire engineering, fire protection, fire science, or a closely related field.

An applicant with a college degree obtained outside the United States must have education records evaluated by a credentials evaluation service. This evaluation must be submitted by the application deadline.
