Duties
- Prepare ingredients by washing, peeling, slicing, dicing, and portioning according to recipe specifications
- Assist with menu planning and ingredient ordering to ensure freshness and availability
- Follow food safety standards in handling, storage, and preparation of all ingredients
- Operate kitchen equipment such as mixers, slicers, ovens, and fryers safely and efficiently
- Maintain cleanliness of workstations, utensils, and equipment through regular cleaning and sanitation procedures
- Support cooking activities by assisting chefs with meal assembly and plating as needed
- Communicate effectively with kitchen staff to coordinate prep tasks and ensure timely meal production
Requirements
- Previous experience in dietary departments or dietary aide roles is highly desirable
- Strong knowledge of food preparation techniques, including slicing, chopping, and recipe adherence
- Familiarity with food safety management practices and safety standards in production environments
- Experience working in restaurants or catering settings demonstrating food handling expertise
- Ability to operate various kitchen equipment safely while maintaining high hygiene standards
- Excellent communication skills for effective collaboration with kitchen team members
- Basic culinary skills such as knife proficiency, slicing techniques, and meal prep experience are essential
- Knowledge of dietary requirements and menu planning is a plus
