We are a busy, established private optometry practice looking for a reliable, patient-focused Optician to join our team.
This position is a great fit for someone who enjoys working with patients, is comfortable in a fast-paced optical environment, and wants to become a strong, independent member of a small practice team.
Previous optical experience is strongly preferred. We are also open to a motivated candidate with related experience who is detail-oriented, learns quickly, and takes initiative.
Responsibilities
- Assist patients with frame selection and styling while supporting the overall flow of the optical department
- Guide patients through frame and lens selection based on prescription, lifestyle, style, and budget, including recommending appropriate lens options, coatings, and treatments
- Verify and apply vision insurance benefits accurately and help patients understand their benefits and out-of-pocket options
- Take ownership of eyewear orders from sale through dispensing, including measurements, lab ordering, order tracking, quality checks, patient follow-up, and coordination with labs and vendors
- Actively contribute to optical sales and patient retention by engaging patients, identifying eyewear opportunities, maintaining product knowledge, and building relationships that encourage repeat business and referrals

Schedule
This is a full-time position.
Compensation & Benefits
- $17–$19/hour starting pay, based on optical experience and demonstrated skill level
- Additional commission opportunities, with current commission earnings typically ranging from approximately $50–$100 every two-week pay period
- Higher starting compensation may be considered for an experienced optician who can independently handle the full optical process, including sales, measurements, dispensing, insurance, ordering, and troubleshooting

Unlike a large retail or corporate setting, our opticians are involved throughout the patient’s eyewear experience—from helping select the right frame and lenses to ordering, troubleshooting, and final dispensing.
