Job Summary
We are seeking a Validation & Verification (V&V) Hardware Engineer to join our team in Phoenix, AZ. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with Python scripting, hardware validation, and low-level hardware interfaces. This role involves developing and executing automated hardware validation tests, troubleshooting hardware and firmware issues, and collaborating with cross-functional engineering teams to ensure product quality.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, maintain, and debug Python-based hardware validation scripts for board-level and interface-level testing.
- Translate hardware requirements into executable test procedures with defined pass/fail criteria.
- Execute validation testing on embedded hardware platforms and analyze test results.
- Troubleshoot and isolate issues related to hardware, firmware, and test automation.
- Collaborate with product development teams to resolve validation issues and improve test coverage.
- Maintain detailed test documentation, logs, and validation reports.
- Participate in code reviews and utilize Git for version control.
- Provide weekly project status updates and share best practices with team members.
- Continuously improve test automation, script reliability, and lab efficiency.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- Strong Python programming experience for hardware test automation.
- Experience working with low-level hardware interfaces such as:
- UART / RS-422 / RS-485
- SPI
- I2C
- GPIO
- Ethernet
- CAN Bus
- Hands-on experience using lab equipment, including:
- Oscilloscopes
- Logic Analyzers
- Digital Multimeters (DMM)
- Power Supplies
- Signal Generators
- Strong hardware debugging and troubleshooting skills.
- Experience with Git version control and software development best practices.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating with multiple engineering teams.
- Excellent analytical, communication, and documentation skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with embedded systems validation and board bring-up.
- Familiarity with firmware debugging.
- Knowledge of CI/test automation workflows.
- Experience creating reusable test frameworks and automation tools.
