Airswift is seeking an Instrumentation & Controls Engineer to support a major energy client in Baytown, TX, on an initial 12-month contract assignment.
The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting instrumentation reliability, process control optimization, engineering reviews, and contractor oversight while ensuring compliance with company standards, project specifications, and regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities
· Analyze maintenance and reliability data to identify instrument failure trends, bad actors, and improvement opportunities.
· Develop and execute process control surveillance programs.
· Collect, analyze, and trend process data using historian databases and visualization tools.
· Perform process control reviews, loop tuning, control logic modifications, and stability assessments.
· Develop maintenance strategies and equipment plans for instrumentation and control systems, including SIL considerations.
· Coordinate discipline engineering activities and technical deliverables.
· Review contractor and subcontractor engineering work, drawings, and documentation for compliance with project requirements.
· Manage technical queries, information requests, and deviation tracking.
· Support engineering reviews, design optimization, and capital efficiency initiatives.
· Communicate project progress, technical concerns, and engineering issues to project leadership.
Required Qualifications
· Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline; equivalent experience will also be considered.
· Strong knowledge of instrumentation and control system design standards, specifications, codes, and safety requirements.
· Experience specifying and applying process instruments, control valves, shutdown valves, and fire & gas detection systems, including ISA data sheets.
· Proficiency with data analysis tools such as SAP, Tableau, and Analytics for Excel.
· Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
· Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
· Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
· Fluent English communication skills, both written and verbal.
Preferred Skills
· Experience with process control optimization and reliability improvement programs.
· Knowledge of Safety Integrity Level (SIL) assessments and industry regulatory standards.
· Experience working within refinery, petrochemical, or oil & gas environments.
