This position is Friday and Saturday only, with the opportunity to pick up the occasional shift during the week.
A bar back acts as a bartender’s assistant and is a crucial function in the operation of a bar. They are responsible for making sure that the bar is fully stocked, clean, and prepared for a night’s service and that a bartender has everything that he or she needs to mix drinks all night long. Working as a bar back is a great way to gain valuable experience behind the bar and offers a great foundation for those looking to become bartenders.
Responsibilities & Duties
- Basic prep work behind the bar
- Refilling ice bins
- Restocking liquor, beer, wine, and non-alcoholic beverages
- Clearing away and washing empty glasses
- Maintain a supply of clean napkins, coasters, straws, etc
- Clean used glassware, polishing wine glasses, martini glasses, and snifters .
- Remove empty bottles and trash
- Take dirty dishes to either of the dish stations at the bar and deliver full dish bins to the dish washing room downstairs.
- Complete weekly duties.
- Take guest orders when the bartender is absent and notify him/her immediately.
- Pour beers for server tickets when the bartender is busy.
- Keep the bar, speed rails, and floor clean.
- Sweep and mop the floor behind the bar at the end of the night.
- Change kegs and notify manager when a new rotator goes on.
- Communicate clearly with bartenders.
- Multitask constantly while moving at a hustled pace.
- Arrive punctually, in a complete, clean uniform.
- Carry out any task or job suggested by managers or those that are necessary to keep our standards of quality and those that are needed to keep our guests happy.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $9.00 - $9.50 per hour
