American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Telemetry position at a Level II trauma center in Asheville, NC, requiring at least 2 years of experience and telemetry rhythm interpretation skills.

34-bed Adult Med/Surg Telemetry unit on the 4th floor of a large 815-bed hospital
-
Patient population consists of adult med/surg telemetry patients requiring telemetry monitoring
-
Day shift patient ratio is 1:4-6; night shift ratio is 1:5-7
-
Day shift staffing includes 1 charge RN, 6-7 RNs, 3 CNAs, and 1 HUC; night shift includes 1 charge RN, 5-7 RNs, 2 CNAs, and 1 HUC
-
Common procedures include IV fluids, tube feeds, PEG feedings, and IV antibiotics

EMR: Cerner
-
Day shift hours: 6:45 AM – 7:15 PM (12-hour shifts)
-
Every other weekend required (approximately 6 weekend shifts per pay period)

Floating required to other med/surg units and occasionally to the holding pod of the ED
-
Active NC RN license or compact RN license required
-
Required certifications: BLS (AHA or ARC accepted); ACLS preferred
-
NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification required for Telemetry RNs
-
Minimum 2 years of recent telemetry or med/surg telemetry experience required
-
Telemetry rhythm interpretation skills required
-
Strong critical thinking, time management, and patient assessment skills required

Cerner EMR experience preferred
-
US SSN and date of birth required for consideration
-
One professional reference required (two required for candidates from Florida or Missouri)

Responsibilities include monitoring telemetry rhythms, assessing med/surg patients, and escalating acuity changes to the charge RN, rapid response, or provider as needed
-
Candidates must be team-oriented and willing to assist CNAs and fellow nurses

Navy blue scrubs required

Must attend shift huddles at 0650 (day shift) or 1850 (night shift)
-
Facility is a Level II trauma center and comprehensive stroke center, serving as the regional referral hub
-
Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility — local candidates are not eligible
-
No gaps in work history of 90 days or more within the past 12 months
-
Certifications must not expire within the first 30 days of the assignment start date
