Saddle River Day School, a close community of learners, is looking for a full-time School Counselor to join our team in the fall of 2026. This is a 10-month position which supports students across the school’s divisions.
We are seeking a compassionate and collaborative professional who possesses a growth mindset and who can build strong, trusting relationships with students, colleagues, and families.
Responsibilities:
- Provide individual and small-group counseling, guidance, and support to students experiencing social, emotional, behavioral, or school-related challenges
- Collaborate with faculty, administrators, and families to promote student success and well-being
- Maintain timely and appropriate communication with school administrators and families while respecting professional standards of confidentiality
- Contribute to division-wide or school-wide programs and initiatives that promote student wellness, personal growth, healthy decision-making, and a positive school climate
- Educate and support faculty in an awareness of the social and emotional needs of their students
- Attend relevant student support, faculty, family, and administrative meetings
- Maintain appropriate counseling records and documentation
- Participate in ongoing professional development and remain current with best practices in school counseling and student mental health
- Participate actively in the life of the school community beyond the classroom, including contributing to extracurricular programs, events, and committees
- Perform other related responsibilities, as assigned
Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in School Counseling, Social Work (MSW), or a related mental health field required
- Appropriate licensure or certification (LCSW, NJ State Certification, NY State Certification, or similar) required
- Previous experience in school counseling roles preferred (other relevant experiences will be considered)
Compensation and Benefits:
- Salary Range: $60,000 to $90,000 (final compensation will be determined based on experience and education)
