Job Summary
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Director of Nursing to lead our nursing team and nursing department. This pivotal role involves overseeing all aspects of resident care, ensuring regulatory compliance, and maintaining high standards of clinical excellence. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in nursing administration, extensive experience in assisted living, nursing homes, home health, and hospice care, along with proven leadership skills. Duties
- Lead and manage the nursing department, including supervising nursing staff and coordinating daily clinical operations to ensure efficient workflow and high-quality resident care.
- Develop, implement, and review individualized care plans for residents, ensuring they meet medical needs and comply with long-term care regulations.
- Oversee documentation review, medical records management, and ensure accuracy in medical terminology and compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Monitor regulatory compliance related to Medicare, Medicaid, state licensing requirements, and other applicable standards to maintain facility accreditation.
- Utilize EMR (Electronic Medical Records) and EHR (Electronic Health Records) systems to document patient care activities accurately and efficiently.
- Conduct regular audits of medical records and documentation to uphold quality standards and identify areas for improvement.
- Manage staffing schedules across shifts to ensure adequate nurse coverage while maintaining optimal patient-to-staff ratios.
- Provide leadership in managing care facility teams, fostering a positive work environment that encourages professional growth and teamwork.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop comprehensive care plans that address residents’ physiology, anatomy, memory care needs, and overall health goals.
- Ensure all nursing practices adhere to long-term care facility regulations, safety protocols, and HIPAA privacy standards.
- Participate in clinical supervision activities including training staff on new procedures or EMR/EHR system updates.
- Support the onboarding process for new nurses and supervise ongoing training initiatives related to medical terminology, documentation review, and regulatory compliance.
Experience
- Proven nursing leadership experience within home care department.
- Demonstrated success managing diverse healthcare teams with supervising experience in a clinical setting.
- Extensive background in the development of care plans, and patient-centered care delivery.
- Strong knowledge of Medicare regulations, long-term care regulations, and compliance standards specific to home health agencies or hospice settings is highly desirable.
- Experience working with EMR/EHR systems for documentation management is required; familiarity with medical records review is preferred.
- Background in managing shifts effectively within acute or home health environments while ensuring quality patient care remains paramount.
- Knowledge of medical terminology, physiology, anatomy, memory care strategies, and regulatory requirements related to long-term healthcare settings is critical.
- Demonstrated ability to lead through change management initiatives while fostering a culture of continuous improvement in clinical practices.
