Why This Role Exists
Today, our customer relationships are owned by sales. We want marketing to take strategic ownership of how customers experience our brands, from first touch through reorder and reorder again. You will build that function from the inside out.
This is not a seat at a built-out CPG marketing org. This is a chance to define how a fast-moving, founder led consumer brand house shows up to its retailers, distributors, and end consumers ? and own the outcome.
What You?ll Own
- Customer marketing leadership. Become the senior marketing partner to our key retail accounts and distributors. Replace ad-hoc sales-led customer touch points with a deliberate, marketing-owned cadence that drives sell-in, sell-through, and long-term partnership.
- Trade marketing strategy and execution. Build the account-specific plans, retailer presentations, line review decks, promotional programs, and in-store visibility that win placement and drive growth.
- In-store execution. Endcaps, displays, POS, merchandising standards, planograms. Get out of the office, walk the stores, and make it real.
- Cross-functional partnership. Work shoulder-to-shoulder with Sales, Brand, R&D, Supply Chain, and Ops to land launches, promotions, and channel initiatives on time and in full.
- Measurement and accountability. Build the KPIs, ROAS metrics, and reporting that prove what is working and kill what is not.
- Executive visibility. Present directly to the President. Bring sharp recommendations, not status updates.
Year One Outcomes
- A defined customer marketing operating model that has shifted the primary customer relationship from sales-owned to marketing-owned for our top accounts.
- Measurable lift in sell-through, retailer satisfaction, and shelf presence across priority accounts.
- A real, working retail media and digital shelf program with documented ROAS.
- A short list of new retailers or channels you have opened or expanded into.
- A team plan that earns its hires ? backed by results, not headcount requests.
